Steering Committee Chairmanship

The leadership of the OGP Steering Committee is comprised of a revolving management team, including a lead government chair, a support (or incoming) government chair, and a civil society chair.  The chairs are selected from among the representatives on the steering committee, with the goal of rotating government chairs across different regional groupings. The lead chair is responsible for establishing a temporary secretariat for the duration of its term, which helps coordinate OGP’s work and organizes meetings of the Steering Committee and the annual OGP conference along with the OGP Support Unit.

The United States and Brazil served as founding co-chairs of OGP's Steering Committee. In April 2012, the United Kingdom became support chair with Brazil, and Warren Krafchik of the International Budget Partnership became the initiative's first civil society chair.

Indonesia will assumed co chairmanship with the UK in September 2012, and become lead chair in September 2013.  Mexico will assume co-chairmanship in September 2013, and becomes lead chair in September 2014.

Minutes and summaries from the ongoing work of the Steering Committee and its sub-committees are archived under related files.

Sub-committees

The OGP Steering Committee has four standing sub-committees to support its work. Sub-committees are charged with carrying out preliminary work to inform decisions taken by the entire Steering Committee. Sub-committees make recommendations to the full Steering Committee for decision, unless provided for otherwise in these Articles or delegated to do so by the Steering Committee. The Steering Committee may choose to form additional sub-committees as needed. Each standing sub-committee is generally comprised of two governments and two civil society representatives drawn from the larger Steering Committee.
