Steering Committee Chairmanship

The leadership of the OGP Steering Committee is comprised of a revolving four-member co-chairmanship team, elected by the SC for two-year terms, that includes a Lead Government Chair, a Support (or incoming) Government Chair, a Lead Civil Society Chair and a Support (or incoming) Civil Society Chair. These four Chairs comprise the Governance and Leadership Subcommittee. The Support (or incoming) Government and Civil Society Chairs assume the role of Lead Chairs in their second year, when the new Support (or incoming) Civil Society and Government Chairs are selected.

From October 2018 to September 2019, the Lead OGP Co-Chairs are the Government of Canada and Nathaniel Heller, Executive Vice President of Integrated Strategies at Results for Development (R4D). They’ve identified inclusion, participation and impact as their joint co-chair priorities. Learn more here:

Subcommittees

The OGP Steering Committee has three standing subcommittees to support its work. Subcommittees are charged with carrying out preliminary work to inform decisions taken by the entire Steering Committee. Subcommittees make recommendations to the full Steering Committee for decision, unless provided for otherwise in the Articles of Governance or delegated to do so by the Steering Committee. The Steering Committee may choose to form additional subcommittees as needed. Each standing subcommittee is comprised of an equal balance of governments and civil society representatives drawn from the larger Steering Committee.
