Middle school students: protagonists of citizen participation Middle school students: protagonists of citizen participation Commitment start and end date: September 2018 to February 2020. Institution or actor responsible for the implementation: the National Administration of Public Education (ANEP) – the Central Governing Council (CODICEN) – the Secondary Education Council (CES) – the Technical and Professional Education Council (CETP). New commitment. Theme: Culture-Education, Youth Commitment description What is the commitment? To develop an intervention plan to raise awareness and train middle school students to:  Promote spaces for student participation.  Promote values for the exercise of their rights as citizens in decision-making in a democratic environment and through critical involvement.  Encourage collaborative work and networking as a socializing pillar linked to interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships.  Generate spaces for critical analysis between students of the CES and the CETP-UTU.  Promote values from an Open Government perspective. What is the problem that the commitment will address? Little active institutional participation. Absence of spaces for student participation (CES - CETP) in a common territorial framework (ANEP). How will the commitment contribute to solving the problem? It will foster the exercise and promotion of responsible citizenship by empowering students through awareness-raising interventions. It will enable spaces for collaborative student participation. OGP value to which this commitment will contribute. It promotes citizen participation and fosters the entrepreneurial capacity of students, responsible participation in the exercise of citizenship, involving decision-making, responsibility, collaborative work, and assertive listening, among others. September 2018 October 2018 To implement two pilot interventions with students and teachers of secondary education: the first one in an educational complex that includes students of secondary school and the CETP-UTU and the second in the National Permanent Student Board comprising 24 high school students from the 19 Departments of the country. October 2018 November 2018 To design and implement at least four interventions led by middle school students. They will be geared towards contributing to democracy, as well as to feeling, thinking and acting in accordance to the society that is developed. March 2019 November 2019 To systematize and make it available for implementation in all spaces of participation, especially in ANEP, as of 2019.
