Finance & Accounting Officer

Description
The Finance and Accounting Officer provides a wide range of operational and administrative support to the Director of Finance and the OGP Support Unit. They assist in creating & maintaining financial records, processing payments & disbursements, assisting with audits, and preparing payroll. They ensure compliance with the organization’s finance policies & procedures and help to educate staff on navigating these. This position also assists in grants management and financial reporting. The Finance & Accounting Officer is an exempt position.

FINANCE

  • Records day-to-day payable transactions and completes the posting process and payment;
  • Develops and maintains systems to account for financial transactions;
  • Using OGP’s Timekeeping and payroll system, verifies time records for consistency and accuracy; clarifies inconsistencies with supervisors; investigates problems and takes initiative for appropriate corrections;
  • Prepares timely and accurate payroll data for US and Globally based employees;
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Performs scheduled and regular tasks as part of payroll processing;
  • Ensures compliance with requirements and internal controls, and advises management on needed actions;
  • Processes all cash disbursement transactions timely, accurately, and according to established policies and procedures, verifying that proper approvals and ensures that all supporting documentation is attached to each cash disbursement request and resolving any discrepancies with vendors;
  • Ensures that all A/P and Payroll information is current on the accounting software;
  • Completes year-end processing of vendor tax forms and distribution of Form W2

STAFF ACCOUNTING

  • Prepares journal entries, analysis, and balance sheet account reconciliations and assists with monthly close processes and monthly financial statements;
  • Responds to auditor requests for multiple audits;
  • Assists with expenditures allocated to grants and compliance with donor restrictions
  • Assists with other Finance & Operations department responsibilities as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in an accounting-related field
  • At least 5 years of accounting and payroll experience in a non-profit organization
  • Experience with Intacct accounting software
  • Experience with expense and invoice management systems such as Nexonia, Bill.com, and Concur is valuable
  • Experience with payroll systems
  • Advance proficiency using G-Suite applications
  • Experience with an international nonprofit is valuable
  • Experience with global payment systems is valuable
  • Experience with various online banking systems are valuable
