Programme Director, International Lawyers Project

Steph is a seasoned governance professional currently serving as the Programme Director Governance and Anticorruption for the International Lawyers Project (ILP). ILP supports both public institutions and civic actors to advance economic justice and the rule of law through provision of pro bono legal expertise. Steph leads ILP’s work on illicit financial flows, accountability for corruption, access to justice, public procurement integrity, civic space and access to justice.

She has worked extensively in various capacities towards transparency, good governance, public accountability, civic space, responsible business and active citizenship. This includes law and policy reform, access to justice for indigent and marginalised persons, country domestication of international and regional standards, safeguarding constitutionalism, civic education, capacity building, brokering reformer partnerships and managing multi-country programmes in various thematic areas.

She regularly provides technical expertise to policy and decision makers, and has been engaged in a raft of public interest interventions. Steph is passionate about open governance for real and sustainable transformation, improved livelihoods and dignity for all. She is a lawyer, and is also trained in communications and international relations.
