Through the OGP Local initiative, participants can learn how to use open government values such as transparency, accountability, responsiveness, and inclusion to better meet the needs of the citizens they serve.

Open Government Partnership Welcomes 30 New Local Governments

Today, 30 local governments join OGP, an international partnership that brings together government and civil society organizations to create ambitious reforms to open up governments and better respond to citizens’ needs.

Why Local? The OGP process provides a unique space to explore local solutions for global challenges. For example, many OGP Local members use their action plans to localize, advance and implement global efforts like the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

A Look Inside OGP Local Action Plans from the Eastern Partnership

Since 2020, OGP Local has welcomed eleven new local members from the Eastern Partnership region; in 2020, we welcomed Akhaltsikhe, Khoni, and Ozurgeti in Georgia; Khmelnytskyi, Vinnytsia and Ternopil in Ukraine and Vanadzor and Gyumri in Armenia, and in 2022 Kutaisi and Rustavi from Georgia and Armavir and Yerevan from Armenia joined the Partnership.
