2021 OGP Academy: The Case for Open Government

The 2021 OGP Academy: The Case for Open Government is a virtual academic conference on open government co-hosted by the Open Government Partnership (OGP) and the Korean Development Institute School of Public Policy and Management (KDIS). The 2021 OGP Academy engaged academics and experts, shared new research developments in different areas of open government, captured open government impacts inside and outside of OGP, and devised new future research collaborations.
The OGP Academy consisted of an opening plenary and eight panel sessions. Panel sessions each included the presentation of an “anchor” paper and a panel of 2-3 additional speakers who presented ongoing or finalized research. The opening plenary featured a keynote speech by Minister Audrey Tang, Digital Minister of Taiwan, and highlights from three pieces of work that OGP has been involved in – OGP Vital Signs, Global Data Barometer’s political integrity database, and a preview of the OGP Decade Report.

In previous editions of the OGP Academy, OGP published a call for proposals to invite research organizations to host panels on the methodology, pedagogy, and approaches to open government. Due to COVID-19, this year’s OGP Academy featured a limited number of virtual panels showcasing research done in collaboration with partner organizations. Thank you for attending the panels, engaging in debate, and networking with other researchers throughout the week. We hope to resume the traditional format in the next edition of OGP Academy.
