Commitment Title

Publication of sustainability data as Open Data

Problem

The city holds a large amount of sustainability data that is of interest to citizens. However, the data has not yet been published as open data and cannot be viewed, re-used or re-purposed.

Status quo

The participation process for the sustainability strategy has shown that citizens want access to open data on climate and the environment. It is important that the data is accessible at a low level so that everyone can use it for themselves. This concern was included in the sustainability strategy as follows: "In 2025, available environmental data will be collected and made available in a low-threshold and digital form".

Action

The publication of urban sustainability data as Open Data is intended to make environmental data available in a low-threshold and digital form. Among other things, access to sustainability data should enable citizens to better track progress and developments in the field of sustainability.

How will the commitment contribute to solving the public problem described above?

Making sustainability data available as open data increases the transparency and traceability of municipal administrative actions.

What long-term goal as identified in your Open Government Strategy does this commitment relate to?

The commitment contributes to more transparency and strengthens the citizens' trust in the participatory processes of the City of Detmold.
