Bruna Martins dos Santos

Bruna is a digital rights activist who focuses on advocacy, regulation, and policy-making related to emerging technologies and Internet Governance. She has been a proactive contributor to the shaping of internet legislation in Brazil, notably the Civil Rights Framework for the Internet and the Brazilian General Data Protection Legislation. Her involvement extends to impactful advocacy campaigns and fostering stakeholder engagement on vital subjects like data protection, the challenges posed by State Surveillance, and the realms of freedom of expression and platform regulation.

Prior to her current role, she served as a guest researcher at the Berlin Social Science Centre (WZB). Moreover, Bruna’s dedication earned her the esteemed Alexander von Humboldt Foundation’s German Chancellor Fellowship for future leaders (Bundeskanzler-Stipendium), during which she collaborated with prominent Brazilian civil society organizations including Data Privacy Brazil.

Active on the international stage, Bruna holds membership in the UN’s Internet Governance Forum’s Multistakeholder Advisory Group and serves as a councillor for the Generic Names Supporting Organization at ICANN.
