Helen Darbishire

Helen Darbishire is a human rights activist, internationally recognised as an expert in the public’s right of access to information (freedom of information) as well as media freedom.

Helen served on the OGP Steering Committee for two terms, from 2016 to 2022.

She is founder and director of Access Info, headquartered in Madrid, which works in Europe and globally promoting transparency for defence of human rights, combatting corruption, contributing to a just climate transition, countering mis/disinformation, and building active civic participation in democratic processes.

Helen is a founder of the Freedom of Information Advocates Network and was also Chair from 2004 to 2010. She was Chair of the UNCAC Coalition from 2020 to 2023.

Helen speaks English, French and Spanish, reads poetry and drinks speciality coffee.
