Background and Objectives

The Open Government Partnership (OGP) is a global partnership that includes 74 countries and 150 local governments, along with thousands of civil society organizations. Through the Partnership, these powerful forces work together to promote transparent, participatory, inclusive and accountable governance through two-year action plans with concrete steps – commitments – across a broad range of issues. This unique model ensures that civil society organizations or direct citizen engagement has a role in shaping and overseeing governments.

OGP seeks a part-time consultant based in Washington, D.C. or Brussels to provide expert support on social media strategy, day-to-day publishing, and expanding our online presence across  major platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), Bluesky, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook. This role calls for a strategic communicator with strong writing skills, a good visual eye, and a passion for open government and digital engagement. The Consultant will also support OGP’s newsletters, ensuring engaging and error-free content delivery.

Tasks and Deliverables 

  • Content Strategy & Management:
    • Provide support in developing and managing OGP’s social media editorial calendar, ensuring consistent and timely content across platforms.
    • Coordinate with the communications team to align social media posts with major OGP events, campaigns, and global initiatives.
    • Curate and create compelling content (graphics, videos, infographics) to amplify OGP’s mission and activities.
  • Publishing & Engagement:
    • Draft, edit, and publish social media posts that are clear, engaging, and free of grammatical errors.
    • Monitor and respond to community engagement, amplifying partner content where relevant.
    • Track trending conversations and position OGP as a thought leader on open government and transparency.
  • Newsletter Support:
    • Assist in managing and drafting OGP newsletters, ensuring high-quality content and timely delivery.
    • Collaborate with the communications team to identify stories and updates that resonate with OGP’s audience.
  • Analytics & Reporting:
    • Track key metrics to evaluate the performance of social media campaigns and newsletters.
    • Provide monthly reports with insights and recommendations for improvement.

Consultant profile 

  • Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in social media management, preferably with an international NGO or government organization.
  • Proven ability to manage editorial calendars and deliver consistent, high-quality content across platforms.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Canva, and other graphic design tools .
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with major social media platforms (X, Bluesky, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook) and analytics tools.
  • Knowledge of open government, transparency, and civic engagement is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Spanish and/or French preferred

Compensation

This is a part-time consultancy, with an expected time commitment of up to 20 to 25 hours per week. The consultant will be compensated at a rate between 30 and 40 USD/hour on a cost reimbursement basis. The consultancy is expected to run from August 2025 to March 2026, with possibility of extension.
