Commitment Title
"Antigua me Mueve": Participatory Strategy for the Citizen Consultation and Outreach Mechanism of the Mobility Plan.
Problem
There is widespread lack of awareness about the municipal Mobility Plan, which facilitates the spread of misinformation on the subject. Moreover, there is no deliberative channel that allows citizens to participate in decision-making regarding mobility management in the municipality, which undermines the legitimacy of such decisions.
Status quo
There is a Mobility Plan of approximately 80 pages that, to date, has not been shared through any of the citizen dialogue channels established by the municipality, nor has it been disseminated via social media or official digital platforms.
Action
The commitment “Antigua Moves Me: Participatory Strategy for the Citizen Consultation and Outreach Mechanism of the Mobility Plan” aims to promote public awareness and citizen participation in the management of municipal mobility. First, a dissemination strategy will be implemented to ensure a clear understanding of the Mobility Plan. Then, citizen participation in decision-making will be encouraged through a validation platform, preceded by technical roundtables where innovative solutions will be proposed to enhance the plan.
How will the commitment contribute to solving the public problem described above?
The commitment helps address the public problem by creating a mechanism that informs citizens about the contents of the Mobility Plan and gathers their input through consultation spaces. This process facilitates the incorporation of contributions that can improve the plan, while also strengthening the relationship between the municipality and the population. Once implemented, the commitment will provide inputs from various sectors and tools that support the dissemination and validation of the plan. Expected results:
An informed and engaged public regarding the main guidelines of the Mobility Plan.
Generation of citizen-driven and innovative proposals to improve the plan. Participatory validation of the Mobility Plan through a transparent and accessible mechanism.
Strengthening of shared citizen responsibility in the management of the urban mobility system.
