Recognise the situation of the persistence of adolescent pregnancy with the participation of adolescents from the provinces of San Marcos, Cajamarca and Jaen
Problem
Persistence of adolescent pregnancy in the region of Cajamarca
Status quo
In the Cajamarca region, the percentage of adolescents aged 15-19 who have ever been pregnant is 12.2% in 2023, which is higher than the national average of 8.2%.
Likewise, the percentage of adolescents aged 12 to 17 who have ever been pregnant is 3.8% in 2023, which is higher than the national average of 2.6%.
In turn, the Health Network of the province of San Marcos has the highest percentage of adolescent pregnancies between 12 and 17 years of age with 14.5% between 2023 and August 2024.
Finally, the provinces of Cajamarca and Jaén have the highest number of pregnant women between 12 and 17 years of age, with 312 and 187 cases respectively.
Action
The Regional Management of Social Development is committed to recognising the situation of the persistence of adolescent pregnancy with the participation of adolescents from the provinces of San Marcos, Cajamarca and Jaen, with the aim of complementing the situational diagnosis of adolescent pregnancy in the Cajamarca region within the framework of the elaboration of the Multisectoral Plan for the prevention of Adolescent Pregnancy.
