Commitment Title
LaPazTec, a program to promote technological entrepreneurship among young people.
Problem
In Bolivia, many young people start businesses to generate disruptive innovation in the market. These are called startups, and they seek to quickly validate their business model and gain traction in the market to obtain resources and investors. However, only 1 in 5 startups achieve success. There are various reasons why most ventures fall by the wayside, including a lack of space to support these ventures and promote effective acceleration, and a lack of cloud-based technological infrastructure to showcase their products and grow in a market segment.
Status quo
Bolivia currently has 167 startups, 36% of which are located in La Paz.
La Paz Tec seeks to promote economic recovery, digital transformation, and talent retention in La Paz through the development of an innovative, creative, entrepreneurial, and technological ecosystem that drives the growth of startups in the municipality of La Paz.
Action
Call for young people to submit projects related to technological innovation, and then help incubate technological ventures based on agility. The best solutions will have access to cloud-based technological infrastructure thanks to our partners, enabling them to promote their ventures. To this end, there will be a selection process, mentoring, and coworking spaces.
How will the commitment contribute to solving the public problem described above?
It will strengthen the capacities of young entrepreneurs, promoting economic recovery, digital transformation, and the retention of talent in La Paz. It will also promote technological ventures to achieve market positioning and contribute to the development of the municipality.
What long-term goal as identified in your Open Government Strategy does this commitment relate to?
Promote citizen participation and collaboration with the citizens of our municipality, making them the main actors in decision-making through an inclusive and representative perspective.
Support local innovation through the development and continuous promotion of young people's human talent.
