Commitment Title
Youth Development
Problem
Young people in the community have limited access to mechanisms for participating in local decision-making. Due to the absence of formalized youth structures, they are not involved in community planning and governance. This leads to low levels of civic engagement and a declining interest among young people in contributing to the community’s development.
Status quo
Currently, young people in the community have limited opportunities to participate in local decision-making processes. There is no structured mechanism for youth participation in policy development, resulting in a lack of representation of their interests in local governance. As a result, many young people feel disconnected from civic life and do not know how to contribute to the development of their community. Some initial steps have been taken to address this issue, such as organizing youth forums and discussions on civic engagement. However, these efforts remain fragmented and lack continuity, preventing long-term youth participation. There is a clear need for a formalized structure to ensure the consistent and meaningful involvement of young people in local governance.
Action
This commitment aims to empower young people by creating an environment where they can actively participate in local decision-making and community development.
The main actions include:
Establishing a Youth Council to provide young people with a voice in governance.
Organizing a youth festival to promote active citizenship.
Developing policies to support talented youth.
Creating online platforms for youth engagement and decision-making.
Expected results:
Empowered Youth: Create a conducive environment for young people to participate in local youth policy development and implementation.
Increased Youth Engagement: Foster a growing number of proactive and influential young individuals.
Effective Youth Participation: Ensure that youth councils effectively represent the interests of young people in local government decision-making.
Best Practice Implementation: Promote the adoption of best practices in youth participation within Zviahel City and Orzhytsia Village Territorial Communities.
Transparent and Accountable Governance: Advance the "Nothing for youth without youth" principle to enhance transparency and accountability in local government.
Overall objective: To build a youth-friendly governance system where young people actively engage in decision-making, take responsibility for their community, and contribute to its development.
How will the commitment contribute to solving the public problem described above?
By establishing a Youth Council and launching an online platform, young people in the community will be able to actively participate in local policy development and decision-making processes. Organizing events and developing support mechanisms will increase young people's civic engagement and create opportunities for their self-realization within the community. These initiatives will also help to develop leadership skills and foster a sense of responsibility among young people.
What long-term goal as identified in your Open Government Strategy does this commitment relate to?
This commitment aims to strengthen the civic participation of young people and ensure their involvement in local governance processes. By promoting transparency and inclusiveness, it will contribute to the development of open government and sustainable community growth.
