    Commitment Title

Transversal communication: communication plays a transcendental role in promoting transparency, as well as new ways of linking with citizens. This implies building appropriate messages and adopting different communication channels to exchange message

    Problem

At the local level, there are no traditional communication media such as television channels, radio stations or newspapers; in addition, there is no official in the municipality dedicated exclusively to creating informative content.

Following the statistics on the deepening of the internet and the use of social networks in Costa Rica, in the province of Alajuela only 18% of the population has internet and with respect to the preference of networks, Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp continue to reign, although with few variations.

    Status quo

The local government has made significant efforts to improve communication with the population and maintain active listening, but difficulties persist in expanding the reach of messages.

    Action

Conduct a citizen consultation to identify the best channels for disseminating information on municipal activities and cantonal activities.

Disseminate quarterly bulletins on the municipality's projects in order to keep citizens informed.

Diversify the communication format towards the use of resources that promote the inclusion of the visually and hearing impaired population.

Create biannual spaces for listening and accountability with the various populations of the canton.

How will the commitment contribute to solving the public problem described above?
