Problem
The metropolis has the following challenges in agriculture:
- Low application of technology especially among smallholder farmers leading to comparatively lower yields
- Poor farmingpractices
- Unsustainable agribunesses and value chain agriculture
- Lack of storage facilities
- Inadequate farm inputs and equipment
- Inaccessible credit , farm inputs and equipment to PWDs
- Weak market linkages in the agricultural sector
Status quo
Largely, more than 60%-70% of farmers in the metropolis do not have access to extension services, resulting in low agricultural productivity. Consequently, prices of agricultural produce have gone up astronomically. Eg. A bag of maize which was previously sold at GHC80 per bag is now sold at GHC650.00

Facilitate their Involvement in agricultural planning and implementation for sustainable output.
Undertake regular sensitization to increase farmers' resilience in crop production and animal husbandry in the respective communities.
