Problem

The metropolis has the following challenges in education:

  • Poor quality of education at all levels affects school performance
  • Inadequate school infrastructure reduces enrolment in schools
  • High dropout rate for both adolescent boys and girls
  • Inadequate supervision and monitoring of schools
  • Inadequate and inequitable access to education for PWDs
  • Inadequate and inequitable distribution of critical staff mix
  • Inadequate supply of textbooks and teachers’ support material
  • Inadequate ICT infrastrucutre

Status quo

The education in the metropolis is characterized by overcrowded classrooms, inadequate facilities such as water, sanitation, classrooms and text books, shortage of text books

Action

This commitment intends to build the capacities of the citizenry through education and training workshops to engage the education authorities.
Facilitate the involvement of communities in educational planning and development for effective and comprehensive service delivery.
Build the capacities of the communities to demand good education for their wards.
Participate in educational monitoring and evaluation.
The overall objective is to improve performance and achieve the educational outcomes of the Metropolis.

  • Teaching and learning materials provided
  • Adequate infrastructural facilities provided

Espected Outcomes:

  • Improved teaching and learning

  • Enrolment increased as a result of increased and improved  resilient infrastructural facilities
  • Improved performance in the schools
