Tonusree Basu

Job title: Manager, Thematic

Tonu leads OGP's cross-organizational program on thematic priorities, to advance reforms on sectors such as anti-corruption, civic space, public service delivery, through OGP action plans. She focuses on supporting the OGP Steering Committee’s engagement on thematic issues, strengthening OGP’s work with civil society and other partners, and identifying peer learning opportunities for OGP stakeholders.

Tonu has consulted on international open government projects, including with Transparency for Development at the Harvard Kennedy School, UN Women, and the World Bank. She was part of the coalition driving India's Right to Information campaign and serves on the founding Executive Committee of SNS India, that promotes social accountability working with marginalized communities. Previously, Tonu managed the media and civic engagement program of India's independent parliamentary research initiative - PRS Legislative Research, where she helped launch the Legislative Assistants to Members of Parliament fellowship. She also helped set up a global policy network on social impact based out of San Francisco.

She holds an MSc in Politics and Communication from the London School of Economics and an MPA from Harvard Kennedy School, where she was a Public Service Fellow. Tonu is a trained Odissi dancer and is based in London, UK
