Which public issue will this obligation address?

Lack of transparency in public institutions often leads to insufficient accountability, potential misuse of resources and a loss of citizens’ trust in institutions. A lack of transparency facilitates corrupt practices, undermines citizens’ trust, leads to poor governance and hinders citizens’ ability to be informed and participate in the democratic process.

What is the obligation?

Developing and implementing mechanisms for transparent use of public funds. Improving the availability of information on the work of institutions through the development of online platforms or portals, allowing citizens easy access to information on decision-making, budget expenditures and other relevant data.

How does the obligation contribute to resolving the public issue?

Creating a more transparent, accountable and participatory public sector will lead to better management of public resources, reduced corruption, increased trust in the institutions and more active participation of citizens in public life and democratic processes.

Why is this obligation relevant to the OGP values?

This obligation refers to the key principles and values that the OGP advocates and promotes and is a continuation of the measure from the Action Plan (2022 - 2024), which focused on establishing criteria for the allocation of financial resources from the budget of BiH institutions.
