Here’s our monthly roundup of updates from the OGP Local community for June 2022.

ACTION PLAN
ACTIVITIES & EVENTS
  • OGP Local member Glasgow connected with a mentor in Porto Alegre, Brazil to learn more about participatory democracy.
  • Curridabat, Costa Rica held an internal meeting with new representatives of the regulatory improvement commission on new draft OGP commitments.
  • Brazilian Points of Contact from São Paulo, Osasco, and Santa Catarina met for the first time in person to prepare for Open Gov Week.
  • The United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) Executive Bureau held a meeting in Seville, Spain. OGP Local spoke during the session “Renewing Democracy from the Bottom Up”, along with mayors and other stakeholders.
  • Johana Núñez, the prefect of Santo Domingo de Los Tsáchilas, and Isabel Proaño, the executive director of the Consortium of Provincial Governments of Ecuador (Congope), explain open government at the local level in this podcast.
  • The city of Bogota, Colombia invites citizens and public servants to propose ideas and stories to strengthen relations between the inhabitants of Bogota, Boyacá, Cundinamarca, Huila, Meta, and Tolima, in economic, cultural, environmental, and tourism areas.
  • Buenos Aires, Argentina held a conversation on access to information.
  • Open Gov Week recap from CatalunyaKaduna, and from all the Kenyan local members (Elgeyo-Marakwet, Makueny, Nairobi and Nandi County)
  • Chepo’s Mayor shared on social media what it means for Chepo to join OGP.
  • As a new OGP Local member Chihuahua is attending onboarding sessions together with the new 30 local members.
OPPORTUNITIES
  • Apply for the Climate Democracy Action program by People Powered, World Resources Institute, and FIMA to launch a participatory program for an equitable climate transition. Learn more at the launch event on June 29.
