Local Roundup | October 2022

Here’s our monthly roundup of updates from the OGP Local community for October 2022.

CO-CREATION ACTION PLAN
  • In Cartagena de Indias (Colombia), they have held 7 round tables with different citizen groups, including: academia, foundations, community government units of local mayors, political actors and population groups.
  • The Valencian Community and the Province of Valencia (Spain) started their co-creation process in September. Since there are three provinces in the Community of Valencia, they are having initial meetings with each.
  • As part of its process, the Municipality of Corrientes (Argentina) invites its citizens to vote for the Climate Change commitment that will be part of its first government action plan.
  • Contagem has integrated an Open Government tab into their transparency portal, talso including their action plan commitments into Decide Contagem.
  • Nuevo León (Mexico) starts thematic co-creation roundtables, more information on Proactive Transparency and Child and Adolescent Participation.
  • The co-creation workshop for Georgia had the participation of 12 people in representation of all members in the country.
  • The Municipality of Maipú (Chile) met with 21 representatives of JJ.VV, civil society organizations and representatives of the new COSOC of the commune to continue strengthening the processes of participation, accountability and transparency.
  • The State of Yucatán (Mexico) has started their co-creation process. Their process estimates three meetings considering the participation of mayan communities.
  • Salcedo’s City Council (Dominican Republic) held their first thematic co-creation session with representatives from different social groups as elderly, people with disabilities, students, farmers, merchants, among other groups.
  • On October 3, the Municipality of Chihuahua (Mexico) installed the Open Government Driving Group. This group composed by citizens selected through an open call,  will coordinate the efforts of the first Open Government Action Plan of Chihuahua Capital.

OPPORTUNITIES
  • Join us for the first session of the OGP Local Circle on the 2030 Agenda and SDGs on October 27 at 17:30 UTC.
  • OGP CEO Sanjay Pradhan, the Director of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe Rafael Benitez, and the Executive Director of the Association of Ukrainian Cities (AUC) Oleksandr Slobozhan, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to support in the reconstruction of Ukrainian communities after Russia’s full-scale invasion.
