Comment vous-êtes vous impliqués dans le gouvernement ouvert? En quoi votre formation vous a-t-elle mené à travailler dans ce domaine?

J’ai commencé à travailler sur ce qui ne s’appelait pas encore le “gouvernement ouvert” en 2007. Cette année-là, la France avait un nouveau président et un nouveau gouvernement,  particulièrement préoccupés par les questions de sécurité et de défense. De plus, quelques mois plus tard, la France allait accéder à la Présidence du Conseil de l’Union Européenne.

Yo empecé a trabajar en lo que aún no se llamaba “gobierno abierto” en el 2007. Ese año, Francia tuvo un nuevo presidente y un nuevo gobierno que tenían especial interés en la seguridad y la defensa. Unos meses después, Francia ocupó la presidencia del Consejo de la Unión Europea.

How did you get involved in open government? What in your background inspired you to work in this field?

I started to work on what was not yet called “open government” in 2007. That year, France had a new president and a new government who were particularly concerned about security and defense. In addition, a few months ahead, France was about to take the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Four Champions of Open Government: Celebrating Our OGP Subnational Pilot Partners

Over the past two months, I’ve had the privilege of getting to know leaders of subnational open government in Sekondi-Takoradi, Ghana and Jalisco, Mexico. Their passion for what they do—whether pioneering new ways of exchanging information with citizens about government resources, or advocating for an apolitical space in government to truly meet their constituents’ needs—has blown me away.
