OGP Africa Regional Meeting 29-30 May

The first Open Government Partnership Africa Regional Meeting will take place next week from 29-30 May in Mombasa, Kenya. The Kenyan government is kindly hosting the meeting with civil society and government delegates coming from across the continent. Australia Sends Letter of Intent to Join OGP

The Government of Australia has submitted a letter of intent to the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Co-Chairs. The letter, dated May 22, 2013, communicated Australia's intent to participate in OGP. Australia will officially join OGP when it presents a National Action Plan and endorses the open government declaration. 

Ireland Sends Letter of Intent to Join OGP

The Government of Ireland has submitted a letter of intent to the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Co-Chairs.  The letter of intent, dated May 15, 2013, communicates Ireland's intent to participate in OGP. 

Russia Withdraws its Letter of Intent

The Government of Russia has withdrawn its letter of intent dated April 13, 2012 to join the Open Government Partnership.  The website has been adjusted to reflect this change.

Three New Civil Society Representatives to Join the OGP Steering Committee

The Open Government Partnership is pleased to announce that three representatives from civil society organizations have been selected to join the Steering Committee.  Alejandro González of GESOC (Mexico), Maryati Abdullah of Publish What You Pay (Indonesia) and Veronica Cretu of the CMB training center (Moldova) will officially join OGP at the next Ministerial Steering Committee meeting in London April 22-24, 2013.  

Joe Powell Appointed Deputy Director of the Open Government Partnership Support Unit

The Open Government Partnership (OGP) Support Unit, which serves as the secretariat for OGP, has announced the appointment of Joe Powell as Deputy Director.

24 Civil Society Leaders are Nominated to Join the OGP Steering Committee

At the April Steering Committee meeting in London, three civil society representatives will rotate on to the Steering Committee as new members.  24 leaders representing groups around the world have been nominated to join the Steering Committee.  You can view more information about the candidates on our website here, including viewing the nomination forms and endorsement letters.
