The legal right to request information from the government allows the public to follow government decision-making, participate in ensuring better decisions, and hold the government accountable.

Technical specifications: Institutions and activities related to the drafting, implementation, servicing, oversight, and enforcement of freedom of information/access to information/right to information laws. Note that general transparency/information disclosure activities do not meet the requirements of this definition. Commitments are only tagged as Right to Information when there is an explicit reference to a freedom of information law.
