Description

What is the public problem that the commitment will address?
The commitment addresses the lack of public data for the visibilization of the current situation and the history of the over 1,600 communities of the different indigenous peoples. Currently, the national State publicly offers a database with the distribution of the communities without qualitative information of their situation or of the public policies implemented.

What is the commitment?
The commitment is to update and disseminate an online map -compatible with cell phones- of indigenous communities that has different layers and allows access to updated information on the situation and history of each community, as well as on the public policies implemented by the National Institute of Indigenous Affairs (INAI, for its acronym in Spanish) and other agencies of the national State. The platform will include functionalities that allow to receive comments or request the rectification of some published data. The layers to be added to the map include: current authorities and their native denomination; dates of celebrations; town history; census information; indigenous radios; language; situation of the water / electric structure; Internet and telephone access; projects implemented; INAI resolutions; structure, authorities and contact details from INAI; allocation of subsidies, among others. Likewise, public servants in positions of customer/public support will be trained on indigenous issues and the adhesion of the provinces will be promoted to incorporate actions and data collected by provincial agencies on the map.

How will the commitment contribute to solving the public problem?
The publication and distribution of the map will contribute to the visibilization of indigenous peoples, as it will be an official input that will concentrate multiple updated data on the situation of the communities. The training of public servants will allow a better work of the State with this population.

Why is this commitment relevant to OGP?
The commitment is relevant to transparency given that it will expand the information available on the communities and public policies that the national State implements for indigenous peoples. The new layers that will be included in the map of native peoples will improve the knowledge and access to the information of the communities, contributing to their visibility.
