Description
Short description Making information and online services related to mobility and transportation available and usable through a single integrated platform for sharing information and providing the relative APIs (Application Programming Interfaces). This is to facilitate the development of applications which integrate the abovementioned data in real time, with the purpose of improving the travelling experience as well as the efficiency of the logistics chain. General objective Meet the increasing need - within the infomobility sector - to access all available information on the various aspects of mobility: circulating road vehicles, vessels, trains, aircrafts (polluting emissions by category of vehicles/type of engine; statistics on the register of drivers, statistics and data on accident rates for the different types of transportation, taxi licenses, limousine services; local public transport lines and relevant service contracts, car hire/car sharing, etc.). Current situation There are many fragmented and not always open data in the infrastructure and mobility sector which cannot be easily used by the community. Platforms for the provision of specific information and services in the mobility sector, developed by service providers and managers at their own initiative, are still uncommon. Expected results Increasingly share transportation and mobility information with enormous benefits for the community in terms of services, security, transparency and reuse of information. The establishment of infrastructure providing integrated open data in "quasi-real time" on different aspects and modalities is a precondition for any initiative of this kind, and this backbone is a strategic asset for the provision of services in the infrastructure and mobility sector.
