Solomon Kusi Ampofo

Solomon Kusi Ampofo currently works a Program Coordinator responsible for Active Citizenship and Natural Resources Governance at Friends of the Nation – a social and environmental advocacy NGO based in Ghana. He has over ten years’ experience in Policy Advocacy, Capacity building and Grassroot mobilization on Social Accountability and Natural Resources Governance. He is skilled in using participatory and innovative approaches in facilitating the participation and inclusion of women, youth and underserved communities such as persons with disabilities in decision making and asserting their rights through open government processes. Since 2016, he has been actively involved in facilitating the co-creation process for the preparation of two Open Government Partnership Local Action Plans for Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis in the Western Region of Ghana. He works with both national and local governments to actively engaged citizens including underserved communities in the preparation and implementation of development plans and budgets that reflect their priorities and promote transparent and accountable governance. He has facilitated many capacity building workshops and public forums that deepen the understanding of the government, local leaders and citizens’ groups on open government processes and stimulate greater engagement between state and non-state actors.
