On Tuesday, September 20, 2016, OGP marks its fifth anniversary with a High-Level Event on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, co-hosted by current and incoming OGP Co-Chairs – the governments of South Africa and France, and civil society members Alejandro González Arreola and Manish Bapna.

The event, which will be livestreamed on the OGP website starting at 1700 EST, and livetweeted on our Twitter account, will kick off with the premiere of our crowd-sourced 5 years of OGP video. Heads of state and civil society leaders will then share their thoughts about future challenges and aspirations for OGP.

This is where you come in. On September 20 please share your thoughts and memories with us using the hashtag #5YearsOGP on Twitter, the OGP Facebook page, or on our new Instagram account, which launches that day.

On September 21, the France-led series of OGP toolbox hackathons continues at New York’s Civic Hall. Further hackathons are announced regularly, and virtual participation is also encouraged. Check our monthly newsletter for updated further information on 5th anniversary events (and please let us know if you have events you’d like to share).

Our fifth anniversary celebrations culminate at the end of the year with the fourth Global OGP Summit in Paris December 7-9. We look forward to marking our anniversary together with you!
