Update on Russia

We are happy to share with you the information about OGP-related activity in Russia.

On 12th -13th December, an open government conference took place in Moscow. Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, officials from Russian federal and regional government bodies, and international experts for governmental openness took part in the event. Ivan Pavlov, Board Chair, and Tatyana Tolsteneva, Development Manager, represented the Freedom of Information Foundation. The event included international experts’ master classes for governmental openness and accountability, open data, and public participation. Moreover, the draft Action Plan of Russia within the Open Government Partnership was presented at the conference. That document was developed with FIF’s direct participation. In the presented draft, 17 items of 22 reflect ideas and proposals  the FIF developed with active assistance from Transparency International-Russia and the Pirate Party of Russia. Ivan Pavlov, FIF Board Chair, represented the civil society at the final plenary meeting of the conference, concluded by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev’s speech highlighting actuality of Russia’s participation in the OGP.
