Nigeria Design Report 2017-2019 – For Public Comment

In 2020, the Independent Reporting Mechanism (IRM) published the Design Report for Nigeria’s first action plan (2017-2019). The report covers the development of the action plan and the design of its commitments.

In Nigeria, the IRM’s findings are summarized below:

“Nigeria’s first action plan leveraged ongoing efforts in the country to address important open government challenges like beneficial ownership, open contracting, and implementing the Freedom of Information Act. The thematic scope and ambition of this action plan has set a good foundation to learn and improve future action plans. Moving forward, the IRM recommends strengthening the institutional framework, inter-agency coordination, and engagement with civil society to support implementation of OGP action plans and deliver key reforms.”

The version of the report for public comment is available in English below. The two-week public comment period closed on 17 February 2019.

Thank you very much for sharing this important documents, first I congratulate the leaders of OGP platform both the new and the out going for their foresight by including CSOs in the action plan because CSOs are the voice of the voice less , implementation of OGP key reforms can only be achieved through demard creation and engagement by the civil society and the media.
