About the Webinar

On Wednesday, June 24, OGP hosted a webinar about key open government achievements in Eastern Partnership countries and based on recently published IRM reports, challenges and recommendations for moving forward.

While countries in the European Union’s Eastern Partnership (EaP) have made considerable progress in recent decades, significant challenges still remain in deepening and institutionalizing reforms essential for citizen-centered open governance. Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine will be co-creating new OGP national action plans this year, while Azerbaijan is currently implementing its plan under special conditions. They are doing so in the backdrop of new challenges posted by Covid-19, with governments and civil society grappling with the policy and resourcing changes needed for mounting an effective response to the pandemic.

Grounded in common trends identified in recently published IRM reports for Armenia, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, and the work of OGP partners in the region, this webinar focused on anti-corruption and citizen-centered public services as areas in which individual and collective progress can be made by countries in the region, building on past efforts and good practices from across OGP countries. Participants also engaged in a conversation on the challenges and opportunities for taking these recommendations forward.
