Reformers Worldwide Honored
at the Open Gov Challenge Awards
At the OGP Global Summit, the Open Government Partnership (OGP) celebrated the first-ever Open Gov Challenge Awards, recognizing reformers who are raising the ambition of open government around the world.
Launched in 2023, the Open Gov Challenge calls on governments and civil society to submit ambitious commitments across ten priority themes: from anti-corruption and civic space to digital governance, fiscal openness, justice, and climate. More than 160 commitments have already been submitted, representing a wave of ambition and collaboration across the Partnership.
The 2025 Awards honored commitments in three categories: Regional Awards, Thematic Awards, and Honorable Mentions. Below are the winners.
“The Open Government Challenge is a call to everyone who believes in freedom and dignity to come together, to learn from and inspire each other, and to re-energize the democratic project for future generations,” said Aidan Eyakuze, CEO of the Open Government Partnership. “The commitments recognized are not just abstract ideals. They are about lives that will be improved, money saved, trust rebuilt.”

Awardees were recognized not only for their ambition, but also for setting a standard for others to follow. OGP will continue tracking the progress of Challenge submissions, and in the future will celebrate reforms that demonstrate strong achievements and results.
The Open Gov Challenge remains open. All OGP members and partners are invited to submit new commitments in the months ahead. The next round of awards will highlight not only ambition, but also proven impact.
