Moving Forward: Announcing the OGP Working Group Workplans

Blog Editor|

The Open Government Partnership Working Groups have been very busy since their launch at the OGP Summit in London last October. Each group has been reaching out to government and civil society participants to build a network of reformers and technical experts. They have also been hard at work developing workplans to connect open government experts and accelerate peer learning across the Open Government Partnership. The workplans outline in practical terms the peer learning and exchange activities for the five working groups: Open Data, Fiscal Openness, Access to Information, Openness in Extractives, and Legislative Openness.

Led by a capable pair of government and civil society anchors, the Working Groups provide a safe space for participants to exchange experiences, tools, and lessons in important areas of open government. They provide a practical platform for connecting experts working on similar open government challenges across countries. Our goal is to support the creation and implementation of more ambitious action plans by learning from each other and sharing expertise through the Working Groups.

OGP was founded in large part on the recognition that good ideas come from everywhere. The Working Groups provide the space to share those ideas and we welcome the participation of the wider open government community. Please review the draft workplans below and getting back to us with your feedback or questions. We also encourage you to participate in the planned activities and events outlined in the workplans, starting with the upcoming regional meetings in Asia and Europe.
