Champions Network

The OGP Champions Network is composed of Ambassadors and Envoys, who are senior figures and former Steering Committee members working to raise OGP’s global profile, position the Partnership as an implementation platform for commitments, and share expertise on open government thematic areas and values.

Ambassadors

OGP Ambassadors are senior figures charged with raising the partnership’s profile, protecting its credibility and promoting its sustainability. Their roles are designed to complement the work and existing responsibilities of the Steering Committee members and other OGP participating governments and civil society organisations.

Envoys

OGP Envoys are a distinguished group of former leaders from the OGP Steering Committee who continue to support the Partnership and champion open government principles around the world. They are selected from among former Steering Committee members who held senior leadership roles—either as ministers or senior officials representing their government for at least one year, or as civil society representatives who completed a full three-year term. Envoys are invited to join the network after completing their term on the Steering Committee and serve in a personal capacity, not as representatives of their current or former governments or organizations.

In their role, Envoys draw on their experience and networks to provide strategic guidance, connect OGP to key international platforms and processes, and help build strategic partnerships. They may support outreach efforts, facilitate bilateral engagements for the OGP Support Unit, and share their expertise at OGP and non-OGP events, as well as through peer exchange with reformers around the world.

This is a voluntary, unremunerated role. While Envoys do not hold governance responsibilities or decision-making authority within OGP, they remain trusted and influential allies in advancing the global open government agenda.

The OGP Leaders Network was a pilot program that ran from 2020 – 2021. Read more about it here.
