Korea's Grand Challenge

  The Korean government has selectedImproving Public Services as its grand challenge from the set of five OGP Grand Challenges

  Our goal is to improve the quality of public services through active communication between government and civil society

 

 

 Efforts to Reform Administrative Services

Transparency

  Information Disclosure System

  - A system established in 1998, to publicly disclose information including major policy issues and budget (www.open.go.kr)

  - It aims to protect the people's right to know by offering information and to further enhance the engagement of citizens and transparency in government administration

Accessibility

  24-Hour Online Service for the Public 

         - An on-line civil service portal for the citizens to request and obtain information and to review and issue civil petitions 

- This initiative has been implemented to allow the public to access specific government services anytime and anywhere as well as to realize a strong e-government system (www.minwon.go.kr)

  Administrative Service Charter

        - A policy resolution declared in June 30, 1998, to enhance the quality of government services by publicizing administrative information

         - The goal is to improve the service quality and to achieve a "Customer First" principle under the Administrative Service Charter

Responsiveness  

e-People 

        - Korea's single online portal integrating services on petitions, proposals, and policy discussions operated by 303 government organizations

  Proposal System

        - A system introduced to collect and reflect creative ideas and proposals submitted by citizens and civil servants in order to make more informed decision-making and to improve the efficiency of government

 

 

 Towards a SMART GOVERNMENT 

 

SMART GOVERNMENT is considered the next generation strategy to keep abreast with the rapidly changing mobile paradigm brought upon by the spread of smartphones, tablet PCs and so on

       Public service usage and active citizen participation anytime, anywhere are further promoted through the integration of smart devices and government services, thus optimizing government efficiency and user-convenience.
