Advancing Justice through Open Government

Justice is one of the ways people experience government most directly. Whether someone can understand their rights, access services, have their voice heard or seek redress shapes their trust in public institutions. Making justice more accessible, responsive and accountable is essential to building governments that work for everyone—and open government plays an important role.

This publication explores progress made by OGP members in implementing justice commitments through the Open Gov Challenge, a five-year initiative to raise the ambition of open government reforms across key policy areas. The government of Canada and the Supreme Court of Chile led this effort to track progress and share lessons, as the co-leads of OGP’s Coalition on Justice.
